Just。。。 an absolute delight to read each story honestly。 I blazed through this omnibus copy of the first four Fear street books SO fast, and I loved the entire ride。 I think Missing, the fourth one, was my favorite out of all of them。

Classic children stories written by R。L Stine。 If your older than 14 you'll likely think the stories are a bit childish or silly。 Classic children stories written by R。L Stine。 If your older than 14 you'll likely think the stories are a bit childish or silly。 。。。more

A mixture of 3/3。5 and 1 4 star story rounded up to 4 total for nostalgia’s sake。 Cheesy, with fairly one-dimensional characters, but entertaining。 The Overnight was the best of the anthology, with the most fleshed out story and action。 Worth a read for those wanting to return to Fear Street before the upcoming movie。

Growing up, Fear Street and Goosebumps were two of my favorite series。 I adored anything creepy, spooky, or frightening。 I read everything I could get my hands on that was any kind of dark。 I read fantasies, horror stories, science fiction, and mysteries。 Fear Street and Goosebumps are two series that combined mystery, horror, and sometimes, science fiction。 I loved that I could read one book and get all of the goosebumps (no pun intended) that I wanted on top of feeling like I was slowly unrave Growing up, Fear Street and Goosebumps were two of my favorite series。 I adored anything creepy, spooky, or frightening。 I read everything I could get my hands on that was any kind of dark。 I read fantasies, horror stories, science fiction, and mysteries。 Fear Street and Goosebumps are two series that combined mystery, horror, and sometimes, science fiction。 I loved that I could read one book and get all of the goosebumps (no pun intended) that I wanted on top of feeling like I was slowly unraveling a mystery。 I remember devouring the Goosebumps books as a kid and eventually graduating to Fear Street。 Although I definitely did read Fear Street, I do not believe I ever read these specific stories。 When I saw this beautiful edition with four original stories, I had to get it, especially because that cover is gorgeous! The New Girl - This story was fun and interesting。 I was completely taken aback by the twist and enjoyed it completely。 The characters are very flat, but that is to be expected。 I was surprised by the number of errors throughout the story。 I believe there was even a character's name that changed from "Maria" to "Aria" right in the middle of the story。 Honestly, it was a fun read but the errors definitely took me out of it。 Also, several of these stories involved the fat-shaming of the girls and women。 They are definitely a product of their time。 The Surprise Party - This one was probably the spookiest one。 I also feel that it was the most intriguing mystery-wise。 This story also gave me the eeriest feeling while I was reading。 Overall, I think this was the best story out of the four。 The Overnight - This was probably the most disappointing。 Not horrible, but definitely not awesome。 It was very predictable and I guessed the ending from the beginning。Missing - Missing was w-i-l-d。 I had no clue what was happening for the majority of the story。 It was interesting but also super weird。 Overall, this edition was a fun romp back into the stories that captivated me as a child。 I am very happy to have this edition in my bookshelf。 。。。more

Major themes include:1。 Obsession2。 Guilt3。 Also Guilt, with a side of "I know what you did last summer"4。 Mistaken identities and assumptionsFrom these stories, which are very much thriller/crime stories, it's hard to see how the Fear Street series later developed more paranormal stories later。 Major themes include:1。 Obsession2。 Guilt3。 Also Guilt, with a side of "I know what you did last summer"4。 Mistaken identities and assumptionsFrom these stories, which are very much thriller/crime stories, it's hard to see how the Fear Street series later developed more paranormal stories later。 。。。more

The New Girl - 3/5The Surprise Party - 3/5The Overnight - 3。5/5Missing - 3。5/5First time reading these; I was an RL Stine buff as a kid but by around 11 or 12 I'd mostly moved on, and a lot of his work aimed at older kids/teens - Fear Street, Point Horror - passed me by。 These were pretty solid overall, some extremely predictable twists but also some genuine tension。 The New Girl - 3/5The Surprise Party - 3/5The Overnight - 3。5/5Missing - 3。5/5First time reading these; I was an RL Stine buff as a kid but by around 11 or 12 I'd mostly moved on, and a lot of his work aimed at older kids/teens - Fear Street, Point Horror - passed me by。 These were pretty solid overall, some extremely predictable twists but also some genuine tension。 。。。more

This was one of the best new Fear Street Sagas I've read by R。 L。 Stine。 I really enjoyed every story in this book because they were all so different; however, I believe the endings were cut abruptly and could have had more detail and explanations。 I rate, "Fear Street: The Beginning" 4 stars。 This was one of the best new Fear Street Sagas I've read by R。 L。 Stine。 I really enjoyed every story in this book because they were all so different; however, I believe the endings were cut abruptly and could have had more detail and explanations。 I rate, "Fear Street: The Beginning" 4 stars。 。。。more

New Girl: Cory is obsessed with new girl Anna。 Anna is mysterious and asks Cory to help her。 3/5The Surprise Party: The wildest Fear Street story that I’ve read so far。 5/5The Overnight: Six classmates go to Fear Island for a camping trip and have more excitement than the bargained for when they get stalked by a madman。 The car chase had me in tears of laugher。2。5/5Missing: Cara and Mark’s parents are missing, and the teens must look for them in a very twisted and unpredictable tale。 4/5

It was, as the stars say, okay。Two of the stories were interesting and two of them were pretty boring。 I'm kind of glad this wasn't my first introduction to Fear Street when I was younger (the stories in Cursed were and they still give me the creeps to this day), I might have lost interest in the series pretty quickly。 It was, as the stars say, okay。Two of the stories were interesting and two of them were pretty boring。 I'm kind of glad this wasn't my first introduction to Fear Street when I was younger (the stories in Cursed were and they still give me the creeps to this day), I might have lost interest in the series pretty quickly。 。。。more

A very wonderful collection of 4 very different themed fear street books。 This brought me back in time to one of my favorite series ever that I couldn't get enough of! I know it's just a collection of some of the original stories, but the writing did feel a bit dated。 A very wonderful collection of 4 very different themed fear street books。 This brought me back in time to one of my favorite series ever that I couldn't get enough of! So since this is 5 books in 1, I'm giving it 3 stars as an overall score。 There were stories in here that absolutely enthralled me and stories that sorta fell flat or just couldn't keep my interest。 But, I definitely plan on reading more of the Fear Street novels and hope there will be another compendium like this in the future! Obviously if you are a fan of R。L。 Stine, this is a series you should read if you haven't already! Fear Street was a formative force for me as a kid。 I read so many of these books over the course of my childhood。 I was always so excited to get my hands on another Fear Street paperback。 This compilation of the first four novels was a delicious nostalgic comfort read。 I really enjoyed the first three stories but found the final one to be a little disappointing。 Overall super fun read for this time of year!

I love revisiting the Fear Street series。 These were the books that got me into reading and have definitely influenced my reading tastes。 This is a bind-up of the first four novels in the original series。 I have read them all before when I was a kid。 If I had to guess my favorite originally out of them I would say The Surprise Party since it's the one I remember everything for。 The one I disliked the most was definitely Missing and after reread I can see why。 The New Girl- 3。5 stars I think I ha I love revisiting the Fear Street series。 These were the books that got me into reading and have definitely influenced my reading tastes。 This is a bind-up of the first four novels in the original series。 I have read them all before when I was a kid。 If I had to guess my favorite originally out of them I would say The Surprise Party since it's the one I remember everything for。 The one I disliked the most was definitely Missing and after reread I can see why。 The New Girl- 3。5 stars I think I hated this one a lot more back in the day。 I remember I read this one on the cusp of reading some of my favorites in the series (The Boy Next Door and Killer's Kiss) and this one was a letdown for me。 As an adult, I find this one to be a very strong setup and introduction to Fear Street。 It gives just enough background info to be spooky and unsettling while also incorporating those elements into the central mystery。 The mystery falls apart like I remember, but it was a fun book。The Surprise Party- 4 stars Who doesn't want to have fun at a surprise party? Whoever is trying to stop the one in this one that's who。 They will stop at nothing from cutting up invitations in class to attempted murder。 It's a wild ride and the main character is a little silly, but I enjoyed her Nancy Drew antics。 I really liked the reveal of the mystery as well as the overall ending。 Pretty strong story overall。The Overnight- 4 stars This was so much fun! Kids go on an overnight with their outdoors club despite not having a chaperone and it ends in murder。 It has an ominous feel to it and while the plot itself isn't the strongest, the characters really sell the story。 I liked the dynamic of each character in the club as well as how they operated in the story。 It was also fun to finally interact more with Suki Thomas instead of the constant comments about her stealing people's boyfriends and being easy。 I like Suki。 She should've gotten her own novel and I can't remember if she does or not。Missing- 2 stars All aboard the hot mess express because yikes was this a definite passenger for that train。 This book follows two teens who throw a party and then their parents don't come home that or the next day or the next day and it follows them as they try to uncover and solve the mystery。 The ending was insulting to the reader。 I feel sorry for anyone who was loving this book and then read that ending because it was not good。 I didn't care for the story consistently throughout, so I wasn't hurt or letdown。 The reveal is the definition of left field and there were like zero hints to being what it was。 (view spoiler)[Finding some monkey heads does not mean I will put two and two together and come to a white supremacist cult。 They didn't say they were specifically white supremacist, but their mission statement sure sounded like one。 (hide spoiler)] 3。25 stars for the overall bind-up collection。 。。。more

These, well, could have been updated a bit before publishing in an omnibus。 The stories themselves are still great, but the fact that they were published in 1989 is glaringly obvious。 They are also full of typos。 Did no one edit before publishing? Hopefully that’s great cover will draw new readers into Fear Street。

Nice little collection, hope we get more!Just in time for Halloween 🎃
